Shirgaon is around 13 Kms away from Chiplun located on SH 71 (Guhagar Bijapur Highway)

 

Shirgaon has two main parts Varchivadi & Khalchivadi. If whole shirgaon is considered as 1 Rupee (16 Anas) Varachi Vadi & Khalcahi vadi is 8 anas each. 

 

Shirgaon is part of Dasapati (10 village region). This region has history of Maratha warriors Shinde & Kadam families who won this area from resident Kolis few hundred years back.  The Shinde family residing in this area is belived to be single expanded family. 

 

Shirgaon is a village with a long and rich history. It has been a market hub for centuries. In early days it was halting point for the traders who were bringing their goods from the Karad market to Kokan via Kumbharli ghat

 

Shirgaon is famous as an educational node in surrounding areas because of 'Shirgaon High School a school, which is built by the villagers with help of 'Rayat Shikshan Sanstha' founder Hon. Karmveer Bhaurao Patil.

 

Shirgaon is main village in surrounding villages and is hub as market and education, Shirgaon also has Government Hospital which serves as major facility.

 

Shirgaon has great cultural background and we enjoy our Ganapti festival, Shimga and Chabina very much.
